In the Light of this Festive Day, 2013, whitewash paint on wall, site-specific installation, island of Andros, Greece

For this work, made in situ on the island of Andros, Greece, I used a verse of the Greek poet Andreas Embirikos, and copied his handwriting on an old wall where the plaster had peeled off revealing the stonework underneath it. The writing is not always clear, because the surface is uneven, thus creating a textured canvas, which makes text almost illegible. Also, I was interested in the interplay between the strong sunlight and the shadows of the cypress trees on the wall, which confuse the writing further.
